... and this is true: I found myself banned from the comments section of a prominent liberal blog merely for arguing that the blind ordination of Obama as saviour of the left has ruined democratic chances in November [not that I fret over this fate; I was a Hillary supporter, thought, of a mediocre lot, she had the right stuff for the troubled times - but of course the only way she can get the nomination now is by having the super delegates steal it away from the Dark Knight, which would of course ruin her chances in the general election - anyway, not sure I care much anymore who wins, other than if Obama wins and proves to be as bad as I think he'd be I can then gloat]. I challenged the received truths of the anointed new left and they ran me off - nice. Real progressives, those lily white acolytes [if you were Byron you'd write a picaresque epic] [and I'd be getting laid a lot more - that worth a club foot?] - much in the same way Stalin was a real communist... not that the wackos on the right are any better... it's just striking this trench warfare they're engaged in: lobbing ad hominem rebukes over no man's land; prodding callow, hapless youth into the fray armed only with blind enthusiasm for the cause; preening Generals with grand schemes and proud proclamations mired in the cold reality of a history overtaking them...
