I was thinking how biased political commentary in the blog bog has become when...
... and this is true: I found myself banned from the comments section of a prominent liberal blog merely for arguing that the blind ordination of Obama as saviour of the left has ruined democratic chances in November [not that I fret over this fate; I was a Hillary supporter, thought, of a mediocre lot, she had the right stuff for the troubled times - but of course the only way she can get the nomination now is by having the super delegates steal it away from the Dark Knight, which would of course ruin her chances in the general election - anyway, not sure I care much anymore who wins, other than if Obama wins and proves to be as bad as I think he'd be I can then gloat]. I challenged the received truths of the anointed new left and they ran me off - nice. Real progressives, those lily white acolytes [if you were Byron you'd write a picaresque epic] [and I'd be getting laid a lot more - that worth a club foot?] - much in the same way Stalin was a real communist... not that the wackos on the right are any better... it's just striking this trench warfare they're engaged in: lobbing ad hominem rebukes over no man's land; prodding callow, hapless youth into the fray armed only with blind enthusiasm for the cause; preening Generals with grand schemes and proud proclamations mired in the cold reality of a history overtaking them...
Americans have trouble talking about the Muslim threat because: liberals, they don't believe in a Muslim threat since they are trapped in an insipid sort of pantheism, an ostensibly enlightened belief in goodwill and agreeable outcomes; and conservatives, they're not comfortable criticizing traditional religious doctrine or methodology so they go on about jihadi extremism in simplistic military terms of bogus confrontation without ever really being able to discuss the pertinent issue of all religion being by its nature extreme and how, accordingly, Christianity itself had to be subdued for the West to prosper - they cannot learn the lessons of our own troubled past as far as the intransigent faiths of our enemies goes because they fear losing their own, which, ironically enough, is to embrace the devil they repudiate. Both camps can't go where they need to go to face the daunting reality of things.
- ... but you can say basically the same re Hillary, yes? That you should vote for her because she's more electable? Is that really a reason to vote for someone, simply because she stands a better chance of winning than the black guy? Certainly just as shallow as promises of 'hope'.
- could be, but would all depend on why she's more electable. If it's because she's less liberal then that would be a reflection of the types of policies she would pursue and therefore electability in that context becomes valid; whereas if it was simply about her being white then of course you'd have a muddle. But it's not about her being white.

"... but even if racism does play a part in the seeming rejection of Obama among certain voters - a contention I thoroughly do not accept - I mean, what, you're telling me if Colin Powell was the nominee race would be much of an issue? - but, ok, even if we assume it is, do you really want to elect a guy to the most difficult job in the world as a way of countering such sentiments? You're telling me you wanna give this guy Obama, a person with little relevant experience and few if any outstanding credentials, you wanna give this guy that job just to make or prove some extremely dubious point? That, my friend, is nuts - and nuts is exactly what most Obama supporters seem to be, given the near juvenile emotionalism that support seems rooted in. I mean, hope? That's it? I understand all politicians need to pander to some degree when it comes to the psychic needs of the electorate - but this guy and his sycophants act like he's tapped into the very DNA of existence in what they like to see as the post modern world. Messianic doesn't even begin to describe it - hell, at least Christ had the decency to perform a few miracles. It's fucking insane."

The unspoken spin still is that Obama fails with white voters because of racism whereas the truth is that he's failing with middle of the road white voters because he is too liberal. It obviously behooves Obama campaign to keep the racism ploy alive but ostensibly unmentioned by them - surrogates are welcomed to talk it up endlessly - and this is how they have been playing the race card all along.

... isn't it clear that Chinese calculations re Olympics were: if democracies don't make a fuss about our nasty way of doing business we reap huge PR benefits, both domestic and international; if the so called free world [US lackeys we'll call them] do make a fuss the domestic benefits, centered around stoking of nationalism rallied in opposition to foreign chauvinism, may prove an even greater compensation?
The bastards have shown themselves to be quite cunning here - and the west has shown itself to be quite naive. Still, to have denied the Chinese the idiotic games would have given them similar rhetorical ammunition, which moves one to wonder if there's not another less obvious but more relevant dynamic at work...
